Blood, sweat and yarns – textiles for the LocHal

12 February 2019 T/M 31 January 2020

In the LocHal, two important elements from the history of Tilburg come together: the former NS Dutch Rail depot and the textile industry. In the past, this monumental building was used for the maintenance of trains.

Today it is a meeting place and work space for the residents of Tilburg. Inside Outside, the design studio led by designer Petra Blaisse, received the commission from Tilburg City Council to create six large-scale textiles for the new LocHal. They are developed and realised in the TextielLab, pushing the technical boundaries of weaving. In ‘Blood, Sweat and Yarns’ you follow the creative process of these imposing textile walls. This is the largest and most complex assignment that the TextielLab has contributed to. Every inch is made to measure. The fact that this impressive production, made in Tilburg, stays in this city, is particularly valuable.

The exhibition is on view from 12 February 2019 tìll 31 January 2020 in the TextielLab of the TextielMuseum.
