Masterclass: Creative Quilting with Yamuna Forzani

During this masterclass, artist Yamuna Forzani invites you into the enchanting universe of quilting, where color, texture, and storytelling intertwine. Along the way, she reveals how textiles can become powerful expressions of personal and collective identity.

What are you going to do?

At the start of the day, you’ll dive into Yamuna’s vibrant universe as she presents her work and artistic process, sharing tactile treasures straight from her studio. Her practice is deeply rooted in explorations of identity and community, threads of inspiration that weave through everything she creates. She will also share the rich history of quilting, revealing the unexpectedly feminist stories and generations of craftswomen behind this powerful textile tradition.

After that, it’s your turn to create. You’ll craft a small quilted tapestry using a free‑embroidery foot on the sewing machine, layering fabrics and fiberfill to build a lush, double‑jersey texture. Along the way, you’ll experiment with additional techniques such as embroidery and beading, adding your own spark and narrative to the piece.
