Celebrate the opening of Haus of fibre for free!
On National Coming Out Day, 11 October, Haus of fibre will open: a brand-new exhibition celebrating the relationship between queerness and textiles. On this special Saturday, admission to the TextielMuseum will be free all afternoon. All kinds of fun activities are planned to celebrate the opening. The opening will be co-hosted by the Tilburg collective Second Haus of Whom (S.H.O.W.). Read on to find out what's in store! Look forward to art drag performances in the exhibition, drag bingo, and a rainbow catwalk! Will you be there? No registration is required!
Exhibition Haus of fibre
You will visit the Haus of fibre exhibition continuously. Built like a house, you walk through the hall, into the living room, through the kitchen and bedroom to the garden. In each room you will find a member of the co-creation group: Nixie van Laere, Célio Braga, Chathuri Nissansala and Yamuna Forzani. Through a video portrait, you will get to know them and their work better. Interwoven with pieces from the museum's rich collection, Haus of fibre offers a glimpse into the relationship between queerness and textiles. Various stories show the role of textiles as a connector, their healing power in times of loss and their strength in times of resistance.

Educatieve drag bingo
Do you know what a BLÅHAJ is? Or do you know what was in many people's pockets in the 1970s to silently communicate their sexual orientation? Tilburg collective Second Haus of Whom (S.H.O.W.) will brush up your knowledge of queer icons during educational drag bingo! Learn more about queer icons in an accessible way.
The bingo takes place at 12:30 and 14:00 in our Auditorium on the second floor.

Workshop embroidery
The Queer Needlework Circle – a queer embroidery collective – warmly invites you to contribute to decorating the rainbow flag. Using various textile techniques and materials, you can help make the flag even more beautiful. At the end of the day, the flag will be festively raised in the museum's courtyard. Anyone can contribute; no textile experience or knowledge is required!
This activity will take place continuously between 12:00 and 16:30 in our Auditorium on the second floor.
