Library Collection


The library contains 19,000 books on textiles. Main topics are the history of the textile industry, textile crafting, textile art and textile design. Besides books the library contains archival collections of artists / designers and documentation on textile companies. Textile sample books and workbooks of the Textile School and of diverse textile companies also belong to the library collection.

The main part of the library collection is on open shelves in the new library. Part of the collection remains in the depot.

Sample Room
The sample room contains a selection of pattern books, sample bunches and folders from the collection and depot of the museum. The sample Room contains the following items:

Household textiles, especially damask from companies like Van Dijk en Van Hoogerwou & zonen.
Interior Textiles of companies like De Ploeg, and Marto and Leo Schellens Schellens & Co..
Samples of textilecrafts and old craftbooks.
Patternbooks from the textile industry, especially from companies like AaBe Tilburg, Mommers & Co., Franken and from the Textile School.

Textile Cabinet
How raw material can be crafted into a finished product is shown in an extraordinary Textile Cabinet. 24 drawers contain 24 commodities, from cotton to fleece. Semi-finished products and finished products can be seen and touched. Glass bells on top of the cabinet contain several special commodities. The Textile Cabinet is in line with the Yarn Cabinet in the TextielLab that demonstrates commercial yarns and their application.
