At the washing and finishing facility of the Audax Textielmuseum Tilburg, you can have your beautiful tableware treated with professional skill.
A piece of history
One of the companies that had dedicated itself to providing beautiful, hand-woven linen ever since the middle of the 19th century was the Brabant weaving company W.J. van Hoogerwou & Zonen.
This company closed down in 1970, but its rich legacy can still be admired in the Audax Textielmuseum Tilburg. This consists not only of the original hand-weaving looms, but also an extensive archive of pattern drawings, Jacquard cards, sample books and the attractive linen itself.
Part of the Damask Weaving Centre is the washing and finishing facility. Your linen can be treated here in a way that has been the traditional custom since 1852. It is washed with natural soaps, mangled, placed for 24 hours in a linen press and finally – to prevent yellowing – wrapped in blue paper.
Your washing can be delivered, or forwarded to you. Consult the price list of the Damask Washing Service for more information.
The Damask Washing Service is open at the following times:
From Tuesday to Friday from 10.00 - 17.00
On Saturday and Sunday at 14.00 - 17.00
